It was built during the Islamic period between the 10th and 11th centuries and later became part of the walls that were renovated after the Christian conquest of Cuenca. The name of the gate comes from its location, which connects to the main road leading to Valencia. It remains in excellent condition, providing a close look at the architecture and engineering of the time.
