El castillo de Cuenca, situado en la parte más alta de la ciudad, fue originalmente una fortaleza musulmana construida en el siglo IX. Tras la conquista cristiana en 1177, Alfonso VIII lo transformó en un alcázar defensivo que dominaba toda la hoz del Júcar y del Huécar. Aunque del castillo solo se conservan algunos restos de murallas, torres y puertas —como el Arco de Bezudo—, aún se aprecia su valor estratégico y simbólico como emblema del poder militar y religioso de la época medieval.

Restos excasos y poco cuidados. Se puede acceder a la parte de arriba x las escaleras metálicas que han habilitado. Las vistas merecen la pena.

Escasos restos del que fue el castillo de la cuidad de Cuenca. Situado en la zona alta de la ciudad, estos restos, junto a la Puerta de Bezudo, son los que aún se conservan. Se puede acceder a la muralla por una escalera metálica junto al arco, y desde aquí tendremos unas vistas interesantes de la Hoz del Júcar y de algunas zonas de la ciudad, además del Cerro del Socorro. La zona no está excesivamente cuidada, aunque los carteles informativos sí están en buen estado. El lugar tampoco es un llamativo, ya que los restos que hay son ínfimos. Es quizá el Arco de Bezudo y la zona de muralla que hay bajo este arco lo que mejor se conserva.
