About

The most ancient and significant buildings of many cities often do not survive to our days, due to the peculiarities of urban planning, changes in power, and several world wars that have thundered over the last hundred years. But sometimes it's different!

The Town Hall in Cesky Krumlov is one of the city's oldest buildings, meticulously and authentically restored. The creation date is at the turn of the 16th century when the local administration decided to move to a comfortable place for making important decisions that would affect the city's future fate.

The building itself resembles a mix of several architectural styles, including Renaissance, Baroque, and Classicism. The attraction is located in Concord Square, where you can not only examine and visit it but also combine your tour of historical monuments with visits to entertainment venues, which are plentiful in the vicinity.

The first written mention of the existence of a seat in Krumlov comes from 1240 by Oldřich of Liechtenstein, however, the local region was settled 35 to 50,000 years ago. The oldest housing estate directly on the territory of Krumlov was documented in the New Town from 14,000 years ago. A historically important event was the establishment of the Rožmberk Dominion from 1302, when the two Vítkov states merged after the lords of Krumlov together with the estates of the Rožmberks. The head of the dominion was always the head of the Rožmberk family, whose seat was Český Krumlov. The medieval city center has been a city monument reserve since 1963 and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992.
