About

Part of the ensemble of the entire Museum Island and a significant share of its popularity rightfully belongs to the Bode Museum, which only officially opened in 2006. Prior to that, it underwent nearly 6 years of restoration and was finally brought to life. About 6000 square meters of the museum delight those who love to wander through galleries, corridors, and stop in front of another painting. Echoes of Byzantium, coins and medals from the Numismatic Cabinet, papyri and frescoes, all mingling together into one big tangle, leave the imagination no room to rest. Each hall here represents a novelty of style, a special harmony, and theme. The cycles of civilization are so fully uncovered in the museum's exhibits that UNESCO has included it in the list of World Heritage Sites since 1999.
