Youthfulness, originality, uniqueness - these are the distinctions of the GDR Museum that might not place it at the center of attention but lend it an elusive charm and allure. The state has quietly passed into history, but tens of thousands of items remain - a school backpack, someone's diary, a medal, and dishes. You can gently touch history - without hesitation and unnecessary fears. The "Trabant" proudly looks at each visitor - a dream and a heartfelt desire of every German, a car as legendary as the Rolls-Royce. Just recently, a small restaurant opened its miniature doors - serving meatballs with gherkins and baked apples. It's as if the "Iron Curtain" cracked open a centimeter, allowing everyone to absorb all the "delights" of an era that can't rise from the ashes, like a phoenix.

Very impressed by the effort and dedication which was put into the establishment of the museum. Many details and interactive objects, filled with additional information. At the same time it has an emotional side, to know how easy it was and is to suppress and brainwash people. During weekdays less crowded than during weekends. Waiting time 10 minutes.
We had a great time at DDR Museum! The museum was very informative and it also had a lot of interactive displays, my children enjoyed it so much too. I also came here 10 years ago but feel like they have improved the museum so much. The staff were also very friendly. The only downside was that it was super crowded inside even though we visited here during weekday. We didn’t book any tickets in advance so we had to queue up about 20 mins. Otherwise a great museum and we’d love to visit here again!
