Schreierstoren in Amsterdam
About
Amsterdam is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, a place you want to return to again and again. Here, everyone can see both buildings of ancient architecture and utterly fantastic modern forms. One such monument is the Schreierstoren tower, which, thanks to its original lighting, attains magnificence and beauty in the dark. There are two interpretations of the name of this architectural monument: the first suggests that the name comes from its shape (schray - sharp), but the second, more popular interpretation, comes from the word schreien, meaning to cry. This version stems from the legend of women bidding farewell to their loved ones from this tower as they set sail. After restoration, a café was opened on the tower's premises, gaining great popularity among both tourists and locals.
