About

The Central Station of the Netherlands' capital deserves special attention because it is the sole station in the city. Its spectacular neo-renaissance style, warm palette of the facade, and very beautiful exterior result in a cohesive architectural masterpiece. If you have never seen Amsterdam, starting your acquaintance with the city from here is a great idea. At first glance, it may seem that both towers of the station have clocks, but this is not entirely true; there's a clock on the right tower only, while the left one features a weathervane indicating wind direction. The station comprises 15 tracks and 6 platforms, and it also hosts supermarkets and fast-food outlets. The Central Station made a significant impression on the Japanese, which led to the creation of a twin station in the Japanese capital.

I'll preface this by admitting that I have low standards when it comes to trains and appreciate any that don't light on fire and actually go to the correct stop. That being said, this train station is very nice. The outside is very beautiful, almost to beautiful to be a typical train station. And yet at the same time, a typical train station can be something incredibly beautiful. If it weren't for the Intercities I took from this station I would never have quickly arrived at my various destinations.
