About

Amsterdam is a city of contrasts. Only here, in the famous Red Light District, can you find one of the oldest churches in Europe, stunning in its majesty. It was built in the mid-13th century by fishermen wanting to give praise to their patron Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. Just 50 years later, the wooden structure was replaced by a stone one, which still amazes parishioners with its grandeur to this day. Not even the Protestants, who seized the church in 1578, could change this. It's worth noting that the church boasts incredible acoustics, allowing for the installation of three organs. Today, the Oude Kerk plays a leading role in Amsterdam's cultural and religious life.
