About

The Ca' Pesaro Palace, built in the Baroque style, faces the Grand Canal.

Its construction began in the 17th century by the order of the Pesaro family. Now, the palace belongs to Venice. Its facade is quite imposing, yet, due to its balance and the complexity of the structure, it doesn't feel overly massive. The second and third floors draw the eye with a series of large windows adorned with plant ornaments and sculpture. Over the years, the palace has been remodeled and expanded internally. However, some fragments of wall frescoes and oil paintings that once decorated the ceilings are still preserved. Today, the Ca' Pesaro Palace houses one of the finest collections of paintings and sculpture from the 19th and 20th centuries. On the top floor, there is the Museum of the Orient, which contains items collected by Count Balbi during his travels in Japan and China.
