I just happened to see this nondescript door with a small sign advertising the oldest marzipan in Toledo. I went in and was delighted to find a young nun selling marzipan in a tiny store. She told me the money is used to help maintain the old monastery building. She was very shy and sweet. I bought one box of the regular marzipan and one of the chocolate. Both were DELICIOUS!!! Wish I had bought more for gifts. Best marzipan I had in Spain.

REVIEW ONLY RELEVANT TO THE MARZIPAN: *IT IS CASH ONLY* Delicious mazapan, bought straight from the convent that has been making it since 1212 (and were perhaps the first to start making marzipan)! I liked it more than the more mainstream brands, like 1880 or Sabor. I particularly recommend the egg white ones as I found the texture to be delightful, despite it only requiring the addition of one ingredient. The nun working was sweet and helpful and even confided in us that she didn't like sweets when we asked for a recommendation! It was a very positive interaction and experience. I would 100% recommend as the place to go to for marzipan in Toledo, if not all of southern Spain!
