Not a bad experience at all, but just felt like a good version of the same experience I get with any decent restaurant in the area. Service was great, though. Wish the food owed me a bit more.

So I was in the Japan Mall and noticed this sushi bar near a fire escape/stairs. There were Michelin guide signs displayed. Omikase takeout was advertised. And considering what appeared to me to be a pretty bad location (dead end hallway facing out to the loud, fluorescent drenched mall) I thought "this could be interesting." So I ordered the omikase and some dish featuring uni. It was ok. The concepts and execution were reminiscent of the best sushi I've ever had. But somehow nothing seemed to stick the landing. Maybe it's more to do with having it made to-go. I don't want to be overly negative. It is expensive though so I wouldn't recommend going here if you had to save up for a really special meal. Better if you're wealthy.

Best place for affordable omakase in the city.
