We came to Mumu Hot Pot in San Francisco because we had previously gone to the one in Pleasanton and loved it, so we decided to check out this location for another hot pot fix no reservations or long wait, and we were seated right away. As hot pot lovers, this spot hit the spot with its focus on personal mini pots and high-quality ingredients, making it a cozy, customizable experience that’s perfect for solo diners or small groups. ATMOSPHERE:
This casual Chinese hot pot joint has a welcoming, no-frills vibe think spacious seating for groups (plenty at the Stonestown-adjacent location), simple decor with wooden tables, and an open setup where the aroma of simmering broths fills the air. The smell of the restaurant was okay, with decent ventilation keeping things fresh, and the bathrooms were very clean. It’s lively during peaks but never overwhelming, fitting 30+ people comfortably with a neighborhood feel that’s great for a relaxed meal in SF’s west side. MENU:
The menu (qr code) centers on build-your-own hot pot with personal mini pots, offering broth bases like buttery spicy - (my personal fave), sichuan spicy, tom yum, tomato, or mushroom, plus premium meats (beef, lamb, pork), seafood, veggies, noodles, and add-ons. Combo sets for 1-2 people make ordering easy, with a solid sauce bar for customization. No all-you-can-eat, but generous portions and fresh options throughout. FOOD:
The buttery spicy broth was the star addicting with its rich, fiery kick that kept us dipping everything in sight, perfectly balancing heat and creaminess. We loaded up on high-quality meats that cooked up tender and flavorful, but the veggie assortment was overwhelming we ended up with way too many that went uneaten, which felt wasteful given the pricing. Still, the fresh ingredients and that broth made it a crave-worthy hot pot experience we’d rank among SF’s better ones. SERVICE:
No reservations needed, and even with a potential waitlist, service was efficient and friendly our server was knowledgeable about broth pairings and kept things moving smoothly. TIPS:
Opt for combo sets to share and avoid over-ordering veggies, as portions are generous. It’s on the pricier side compared to other hot pots (expect $30-50 per person), so we’d love an AYCE option or adjusted pricing for better value. The sauce bar is top notch, with a wide array of condiments, spices, and mixes to elevate your dips try experimenting for custom flavors. Parking near Stonestown is convenient with the mall lot nearby, but go early to beat crowds. OVERALL:
Was it worth the visit? Absolutely, especially for hot pot fans hooked on that spicy, mouth-numbing broth. Mumu delivers quality and fun in a casual SF setting, though better pricing or AYCE would make it unbeatable. We’ll be back, but with a lighter hand on the veggies.

I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant so much in terms of food and service alike. I believe there’s two servers who work exceptionally hard. One is a lady with red highlights and tattoos, and the other is an Asian man with a black shirt and a fauxhawk. They were super receptive with us ordering and staying several hours because I had hung out with some friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. They kept topping this waters and asking if we needed anything else. The food was exceptionally good, especially if you’ve been here and got the short rib before, but the presentation is also equally as beautiful. There was no wait and the prices of the food were decent for the quality. I will be coming back as a loyal customer because I live within the area And I want to try the rest of the soup bases.
