One of a kind! What a sandwich! A bit too much for me, I have high cholesterol so this could kill me. But they are bomb! If you are not damaged like me :)
There are quite a few places in the bay with amazing sandwiches and Little Lucca is one of them and is a staple in my diet. I’ve been coming close to a decade and I don’t know how they do it, but they’re able to give you a great sandwich that is insanely huge for an extremely reasonable price (size equivalent to a 40oz hydroflask). I will admit they are probably not the best sandwich I’ve ever had, but as far as being local it’s unmatched in terms of taste and value. These puppies can easily be a full day meal if you don’t eat that much and at the very least two meals. However, if you’re like me, I’m crushing in one go and regretting it. I also think what sets them aside from other shops is the homemade sauce they have, the garlic and pepper sauce is amazing! Particularly the garlic one. My typical order usually encompasses some kind of combination of hot coppa, hot salami, salami, mortadella, and or prosciutto + dutch crunch bread. If going this meat route I highly recommend asking them to cut them THINLY otherwise it does make the sandwich experience worse (meat falling out due to incomplete tear off from bite). Could also be a skill issue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Another staple if I want a hot sando is the meatball marinara! Overall if you’re local it’s a 5/5 spot in terms of value and taste, but I wouldn’t really want to wait too long in line for it or if living far travel frequently for it. Pro tip: call ahead to check the line situation or just order ahead via phone. I believe they have different queue times for phone vs in person.
Best Sandwich in the bay. Gets a little busy but completely worth the wait.
