About

Viesturs Garden, formerly known as "Petrovsky Park," is the very first public garden to have emerged in the Latvian capital. Peter the Great himself contributed to its creation, personally selecting trees and designing the landscape.

The garden, laid out according to the plan of a popular Riga architect and surveyor, became a beloved and sought-after spot for city dwellers to relax from its very first day. Notably, in its original form, the garden resembled a traditional French park with all its characteristic features, from ponds to gazebos. Later, its "appearance" changed to a more liberated and free one, and amongst the sprawling willows, the Alexander Triumphal Arch appeared.

Хороший парк. Много скамеек, есть детская площадка. В тёплое время года устанавливают передвижной туалет. Около домика установлен кофейный аппарат и водяная колонка. Можно попить воды и есть место для воды животным.
