About

Alberta Street, known to every resident of the capital and even tourists, is named after the famous founder of Riga. Locals call it the "Art Nouveau street," as walking down it allows one to get acquainted in detail with this style, exploring all its features on specific examples. Alberta Street was built in just two years, and soon eight of the buildings on it were granted the status of architectural monuments. Interestingly, all the buildings are very closely adjoining each other, creating a sense of solidity and infinity of the structures. The facades of the buildings are decorated with various ornaments, stone flowers, and geometric figures. Strolling down the street, one can stumble upon the embassies of Belgium and Ireland, as well as a museum dedicated to Art Nouveau and its history.
