The magnificent Parisian Jardin des Plantes, with free admission for visitors, was founded four centuries ago - in the time of Louis XIII. Originally, it was considered the royal garden of medicinal plants. Some of these specimens, by the way, have managed to survive to this day. Now, it is a vast area of 23.5 hectares, planted with 450 species of frost-resistant plants. As for the plants that prefer warmth, they are grown in large greenhouses, one of which - the very first one - is nearing two centuries old.

There are also animals, kept in conditions as natural as possible - the menagerie was established in 1794 and was restored after the Franco-Prussian War.
