Kudowa-Zdrój

A popular resort since the 16th century, Kudowa-Zdrój is located on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic, in the Lower Silesia region. The sanatoriums and guest houses of Kudowa-Zdrój are situated in a valley at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The town is surrounded by mountains, providing shelter from the wind. It boasts a unique microclimate: a warm season from May to September, with comfortable summer temperatures.

The main treatments offered are based on mineral water and dry carbon dioxide baths. Key indications include cardiovascular diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, hypertension, rheumatism, and stomach pains in children. The resort's symbol is a winter garden-like pump room with walking terraces and bathing facilities. Guests can enjoy gymnasiums, outdoor pools, tennis courts, a horseback riding center, and a Fairy Tale Museum.

The main Health Street cuts through the town, linking Kudowa-Zdrój’s main attractions: elegant sanatorium complexes, villas, boulevards, and cafes. The sprawling Spa Park features numerous gazebos, photo spots, mini sculptures, play and concert areas, and often hosts art exhibitions, music, and theater festivals. In the northeastern part of the town lies the eerie Chapel of Skulls and an open-air folk architecture and lifestyle museum.

Kudowa-Zdrój’s popular activities are closely tied to nature:

  • ascending Mount Szczeliniec;
  • exploring the stone mazes of the Błędne Skały (Wandering Rocks);
  • visiting the Ecocenter of the Table Mountains National Park;
  • enjoying the treetop adventure park in the forest;
  • cycling and hiking on marked trails.

In winter, skiing trails are laid out in the Spa Park. Two ski resorts, Polish Zieleniec and Czech Deštné, are located nearby.

The nearest major Polish city with an airport is Wrocław, 124 km via the E67 route. The bus journey takes 2.5 hours, while the train takes 3.5 hours. You can easily reach the Czech capital by car in 2 hours.
