About

Not far from the Ukrainian capital, on the banks of the Dnieper River, one can immerse into the national village culture, traditions, and daily life, but only for a short while. The main attractions of the Pyrohiv museum include not only ancient wooden churches but also economic buildings, among which are barns, granaries, windmills, wine presses, and much more. The interior of the cottages is arranged in accordance with Ukrainian traditions, showcasing rare collections of national clothing, tablecloths, iconostases, and other household items from that time. The idea to create such a museum came to the historian P.T. Tronko in 1969. Eventually, an exposition that reflects the culture of five Ukrainian regions was established on 150 hectares near the village of Pyrohiv!
