Una delle due porte sopravvissute della cinta muraria del 12emo secolo (l'altra è la più famosa Porta Soprana). Originariamente detta di Santa Fede, prende il nome dalla famiglia Vacchero che in zona aveva numerose case - si vedano a poca distanza la Colonna Infame e la loro fontana. Di aspetto monumentale, ad attestare la ricchezza e la potenza raggiunta dalla città in quel periodo, è stata recentemente restaurata, anche se il fornice tra le torri meriterebbe ancora un pò di pulizia

Vista in data 04/05/2025 in gita in comitiva .Denominata in origine Porta di Santa Fede dal nome della vicina chiesa ,ora sconsacrata ed adibita ad uffici comunali .Soprannominata anche Porta Sottana ,fa parte delle opere di fortificazione della cinta muraria cittadina del XII secolo Formata da due torri semicircolari coronate da una merlatura ghibellina .
