About

Once the Ursian basilica, named after a local bishop, and today the Church of Santo Spirito appeared in Rimini back in the 5th century, winning a special affection among the residents and becoming an attraction for visiting tourists. The temple underwent a major reconstruction and now consists of elegant porticos with three arches, and, as per Christian tradition, its peak is adorned with a cross. The interior is divided into three naves with sarcophagi, an ancient pulpit, and a panel with other early art monuments. The church is also notable for the fact that its sarcophagi, besides containing the interred clergy, hold the relics of Saint Barbatus, particularly venerated in the city.
