The name "Golden Lane" has two underlying justifications - historical and mythical. Historical facts indicate that craftsmen, jewelers, and minters, who worked for the treasury, once lived here.

The mythical legend, in turn, suggests that small houses were inhabited by alchemists who created rejuvenating elixirs for the emperor and turned ordinary stones into gold bars.

Today, this historical 16th-century site is accessible to any tourist. It consists of a one-way street where tiny, colorful houses with numbers from 12 to 27 are closely nestled together. Each building has something extravagant and specific about it. For instance, house No. 22 was once the residence and creative space of Franz Kafka, and it is now a bookstore. In buildings with serial numbers from 17 to 21, various souvenirs and cosmetic products are sold. In house No. 16, you can taste national Czech beer.

After 6:00 PM, you can walk around for free, but remember that by this time, all the souvenir shops will already be closed.
