The local beer restaurant is one of the best in Berlin, pouring frothy pleasure by the keg, intoxicating the imagination. Reichstag, the Triumphal Arch, and the Museum of World Cultures are situated on the endless expanses of Tiergarten, embedded into its soil, having set down strong roots. And, like a blast from the past, a sobering reminder appears before one's eyes: the monument to the Soviet soldier, erected after the Nazis' surrender.
