Apparently a castle, but doesn't quite look like the stereotypical castle. It is clearly a damn now and per our guide they indicated there is/was some hydro-electric capability(?) would small I would think. See it from the bridge by the Tower gate area you can get a good view of this and the iconic Bamburg old hall in the river

old historical building which was once a castle for the city. now under heavy renovation works but you can stand next to its walls from the river side to see the old townhall fassade.
