About

The ruins of Perge represent the remains of an ancient Persian city, which was once conquered by Alexander the Great. This historical monument is located on the banks of the Aksu River, and its name translates as "high".

Throughout its history, Perge endured numerous wars, invasions, and attacks. Being a major trade port of Pamphylia, it often changed its rulers, who alternated one after another, constantly converting Perge to a new religion. Eventually, the city was abandoned by all its inhabitants, and from its former architectural glory, only the ancient theater that seats 15,000 spectators, Roman baths, and an acropolis remain to this day, near which a large stadium is now located.

Perge Agora - úžasná archeologická lokalita s dokonale zachovalou římskou architekturou. Místo nabízí autentický pohled do starověkého městského života s precizně dochovanými architektonickými prvky. Impozantní sloupořadí, dlažba a urbanistické řešení dokládají vyspělost tehdejší civilizace.
