Pomnik robi niesamowite wrażenie i nie da się go ot tak ominąć. Budowa rozpoczęła się w 1994 roku. Do realizacji wybrano wyłoniony w konkursie projekt warszawskiego rzeźbiarza i medaliera, Tadeusza Tchórzewskiego. Odsłonięcie pomnika nastąpiło 22 września 2000 roku. Pełna nazwa rzeźby to pomnik Ofiar Katynia, Miednoje i Charkowa, więźniów obozów Kozielsk, Starobielsk, Ostaszków. Pomnik powstał dzięki składkom stowarzyszenia Dolnośląska Rodzina Katyńska i dotacji Rady Ochrony Pamięci Walk i Męczeństwa oraz hojności mieszkańców. Podstawą zajmującego aż 380 m2 monumentu jest krzyż ułożony z około 22 tys. granitowych kostek, co odpowiada szacowanej liczbie ofiar – pisze Tomasz Adamczyk z Centrum Historii Zajezdnia. Na styku ramion krzyża ustawione zostały podłużne granitowe bloki, tworzące symboliczny grobowiec. Pomiędzy nimi klęczy odlana z brązu postać (Pieta Katyńska), obejmująca jednego z zamordowanych. Swój wzrok kieruje na stojącego na cokole Anioła Śmierci.

Bardzo poruszający pomnik. Pięknie wykonany. Myślę, że to obowiązkowy punkt na mapie Wrocławia.
