Turku

Visit the charming Finnish city with unique medieval monuments. In the Abo Castle, ceremonial halls, dungeons, and towers with observation decks have been preserved. At the Cathedral (13th century) on the Vanha Suurtori square, the Summer Medieval Festival and Christmas Market are held. Around the cathedral, there are several museums, the Åbo Akademi buildings, Old Town quarters with museums and restaurants. Next to the waterfront lies the modern Sibeliusmuseum building.

In the center of Turku, 18 courtyards with 18th-century wooden houses have been preserved. They are now an open-air museum, Luostarinmäki; in the summer, artisan workshops are open. Old and modern ships can be seen at the Maritime Center.

Be sure to attend a concert at the Church of St. Michael, home to Finland's largest organ with 3,633 pipes. The red-brick church is situated on a hill with a magnificent view. Reach the Market Square, surrounded by major shopping centers. Nearby are the Swedish Theatre and the Art Museum.

In the Turku Archipelago, there are over 40,000 islands with beaches, parks, hotels, golf clubs, fishing spots. For hiking enthusiasts, cyclists, and car owners, the Archipelago Trail is available in summer: 250 kilometers, 8 ferry crossings. Families with small children should visit the Muumimaailma theme park in the Naantali resort area.
