Świnoujście

A renowned Baltic port and resort located on the border between Poland and Germany. It is entirely situated on islands: 3 inhabited and 41 uninhabited. There are stationary bridges and a ferry system between the islands and across the Swina strait. A broad strip of pine forest separates the main promenade from well-kept sandy beaches. The best panoramic view of the city is from the pier near the famous lighthouse shaped like a windmill.

Most hotels, restaurants, and entertainment centers in Świnoujście are located on the westernmost island of Usedom. A large part of the island is occupied by the Health Park featuring walking paths, beaches, concert venues, and fountains. Near the park are Świnoujście’s main attractions: yacht clubs, the round tower of Angel’s Fort (an exact replica of Hadrian's Roman mausoleum), the Western Fort, and the Navigation Tower. The city’s main tourist sites can be conveniently explored on the Green Train.

Świnoujście is an excellent base for beach and family vacations, offering numerous hotels of various classes, a water park, a Maritime Museum, and water sports centers with equipment rentals for windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and kayaking.

This Baltic resort on the islands is a starting point for ecological routes. Local nature reserves attract tourists with dunes, pine forests, and wetlands. The most popular reserve is Wolin, offering tourists walks along marked trails with viewing platforms for birdwatching.

From the Świnoujście ferry terminal, it is easy to reach Swedish ports Ystad and Trelleborg by sea. The train journey from Warsaw via Szczecin takes 6 hours; trains arrive at the railway station on Wolin Island, with a nearby ferry transfer to Usedom. It takes 10 minutes by train from Szczecin Airport in Goleniów.
