About

The Northern Limestone Alps have hidden within their depths the vast and still not fully explored Lamprechtsofen karst cave system. Access is possible through any of its four entrances, but no one has yet managed to traverse its full 32-kilometer length. Interestingly, Lamprechtsofen is known as one of the deepest caves in the world, with its dark labyrinths allowing descent for a whole 1600 meters. Only 600 meters of a safe route are open to tourists, as the corners of this ancient treasure trove of underground kings have seen researchers stumble upon human skeletons of once daring travelers and extreme sports enthusiasts more than once.
