About
A more perception-friendly name for this structure is the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Christ. It is one of the main churches in France and, at the same time, a pilgrimage site.
The symbol of its construction became a memorial to the victims of the war with Prussia, and the construction lasted about 40 years! This happened because it was necessary to simultaneously strengthen Montmartre hill - the highest point of the French capital.
Today, the basilica can be reached not only by stairs but also by funicular. From its gates, a picturesque panorama of Paris unfolds...
A unique feature of the church is its whiteness, which appears only under the influence of water - this characteristic was "gifted" to the church by the mineral that served as the main building material.
