Fist day in Mexico City we ate at Cocina Mama Tona, known only to the locals. Family own and home cooked. They have the “comida corrida” choice of 2 soups, 2 second dishes, 2 main dishes, dessert and agua fresca (watermelon). We chose the vegetable soup which had a thick broth, well seasoned and full of fresh corn, calabacita, potatoes, carrots, and chayote). Tasted like made by a grandma with lots of love. The second plate was Mexican rice and cold codito salad, again: well seasoned. Main dish was huaraches made with cactus pads, topped with shredded chicken, red sauce, lettuce, fresh cream and cheese. Could have competed with any Mexican novo cuisine. My brother in law had chile relleno filled with fresh corn and melted manchego cheese and chunks of panela cheese, all bathed with a creamy poblano sauce. He sop up all the sauce. Dessert was Cherry gelatin! Thanks to the owner: Anto and Benny for greeting us and our servers Andrea and Lalo. Everything for under $90.00 pesos Highly recommended
