Finally tried Hiyoko — and I’m in love! What an experience — intimate counter seating, beautifully curated dishes, and a front-row view of the chefs in action. Every detail felt intentional, from the presentation to the flavors. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit back, watch the magic unfold, and enjoy every bite. Having lived in Japan, Japanese food holds a very special place in my heart — 日本の料理は私にとって特別なものです (Japanese cuisine is very special to me). This felt like a little trip back. Definitely a spot I’d go back to again (and again!).

If you’re looking for yakitori in Mexico City, this is the spot! They also serve some sashimi not a huge variety, but what they do have is absolutely perfect and delicious. I was a bit worried at first because I’ve had bad experiences at other places poor service and honestly the worst sushi I’ve ever had I think the name was Kura.I mean, you can’t go wrong with toro, but somehow they did. That’s why I was hesitant to try Japanese food in the city again, especially bringing my husband along and risking a bad experience. But this place completely changed my perspective 100%! The food was a solid 10/10, and the service was just as great. I felt genuinely welcomed and comfortable, almost like being in Japan. The food, drinks, and service all came together perfectly. I highly recommend this place if you’re visiting Mexico City and craving yakitori and a bit of sashimi.
