This is a novel dinosaur afternoon tea and a short 5 minute walk from the natural history museum. The afternoon tea was plentiful with savoury seconds offered. The smoked salmon blini and quiche were lovely. The chicken roll was unpleasant; I would have preferred whole pieces of chicken, as I could not identify any chicken in the filling. The scones were very disappointing; hard, flat, over baked, dry and crunchy. Almost like a cookie. Not the soft, light scones we usually have. By the time we got to the final tier, the white chocolate mousse etc were warm and it did not taste nice (1 hour after being presented with it). I prefer the Dorchester way, where the final tier is brought out later and the sandwiches and scones together. When I told the waiter after he had asked how everything was, he simply shrugged it off and said they baked the scones fresh. The clotted cream could not save the scones. The jam was low-quality. With the children’s afternoon tea, it would be better if they include some fruit and vegetable crudités (rather then scones) like the Dorchester do (please see the second photo of the Dorchester children’s afternoon tea: strawberries, vegetables, cream cheese sandwich). The hot chocolate did not come with whipped cream which was disappointing. We paid the service charge (£20). Here is a photo of the flat, hard and dry scone - the scones need serious improvement. Such a shame as a novel idea, located well and perfect for school aged children. We will choose elsewhere for afternoon tea in a London.

My sister and I are pretty nerdy (and she’s also a Physics teacher), so we found this themed tea to be perfect for us! It could be geared towards kids, but we had a great time. The service was excellent, each staff member was very friendly and lovely. The design of the whole experience was so clever and fun. The food was delicious and though we were pretty stuffed, they do offer unlimited sandwiches and quiches. There were options for vegetarian, vegan and gluten free menus. The toilets are down stairs but there is an elevator if needed.

It was a bit pricey but worth it. I was happy to discover that you get refills of some of your food. The food was delicious and I only have one complaint. In the kids meal, the hot dog bread was extremely stale, but the meat juice of the actual hot dog could make up for that. The seats were cozy and roomy. The best dessert was the baked alaska, with what I think is mango ice cream, which was a pleasant surprise since it’s not very common. There was a salmon biscuit which was delicious! The theming wasn’t too overkill, just dinosaurs. In the end, there was a little fun surprise for the kids meal. Overall, it was a nice experience with good food.
