Shame they’d run out of beers again on what was a convivial open mic night (Weds). Was appalled to see yet again not one bar counter was cleaned all night, which meant sleeves in puddles of slopped beer and stickiness. This happens fairly regularly. Why did the pub get rid of the pool table? Seemed very popular with the younger locals there. Why did the pub remove the lighting over where the singers perform so now it’s a sea of darkness over there? Last time I was served a Guinness in a flimsy plastic pint glass “because we don’t want to wash glasses near closing time”. This was about 10.18pm. It’s very sad to see this pub is likely to go under when there’s no good reason it couldn’t keep its punters if customer felt a little more cared-for. Last night a lot didn’t stay due to lack of beer choices. I do hope it survives but as it is, like so many pubs in the area am not optimistic.
