🚇 Tottenham Court Road 🍺 £6.95 Pravha This pub is located on Oxford Street in central London. The nearest Tube is Tottenham Court Road which is just across the road. The Flying Horse dates back to as early as 1790. Around 1894, following a rebuild, the pub was renamed The Tottenham and kept that name for over a century. In 2015, it was refurbished and reverted to its original name, The Flying Horse. In 1841, there were 34 pubs along Oxford Street. Today, The Flying Horse is the last one standing. This one-bar pub boasts one of the most magnificent Victorian interiors in London. The servery runs along the left-hand side, stretching two-thirds down the bar. On the right wall there are three paintings of women represent the seasons — Spring with flowers, Summer with pheasants, and Autumn with grapes. Winter is missing, replaced by a mirror. At the rear, you’ll find a beautiful octagonal skylight, etched mirrors, dark woodwork, and poser tables. Other highlights include an ornate fireplace, detailed cornicing, and decorative glazed tiles. The beer selection is a good mix of well known keg beers and an impressive range of cask ales. I opted for a Pravha — my pint hit the spot, though the price point was on the high side. I didn’t see any food being served at the time of my visit. I arrived at 4pm on a pleasant Wednesday afternoon in April. The pub was fairly busy, with a mix of office workers, tourists, and a few solo imbibers. The atmosphere was chilled and relaxed ahead of the post-work rush. The service was great — the chap who served me was all smiles and courteous. Spending time in this pub was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The highlight is most definitely the surroundings which make for a very atmospheric place to have a pint. The service was good, beer was pricey and the atmosphere was easy to settle into. Make sure you visit early if you want to check out the interior, this pub gets very busy. Tyst och lugn pub. behaglig musik. En av Strikes favoritpubar och vi förstår varför.
