Arrived at 17:30 to have a drink during happy hour before our table at 18:00. The guy behind the bar was flat out serving people, doing a great job, he was so lovely, but even with his efficiency the bar was understaffed. We waited 25 minutes for drinks and we were 3rd/4th in the queue when we arrived, but he was prepping drinks for all the tables as well as those at the bar and made great drinks. Our waitress was lovely, gave great advice on the menu, but she had clearly been given the whole restaurant to serve and was very busy. The food was good, the drinks were great. The southern fried chicken is tasty, but watch out for small bones (although to be expected with the cuts we had), the slaw is delicious and different to what we expected in the best way. The oysters are delicious! The sauce that comes with the fries (which are great & not too spicy) is amazing! We had planned to get dessert but we didn’t get the chance to order it, would have loved to have tried the beignets. I think the staff are doing an amazing job given they are given so much to do. I would 100% come back, if I booked for 16:00, had a table and could enjoy happy hour. I wouldn’t recommend doing what I did, thinking you could come for a bit of happy hour and a quick dinner. I want to stress how great the staff are, but management should consider that Thursday is the new Friday in the city and particularly in good weather they’re likely to be busy and should staff accordingly. Location is lovely and close to the city. Overall I would say the staff are brilliant, knowledgeable, and doing the best they can (which is way beyond what I could have managed under the circumstances when I was a waitress) . The food is great, and with happy hour prices would be an absolute steal. Would 100% recommend the happy hour, or after 7pm (weekdays), but not in between.
