The theater occupies one of the buildings of the palace complex, which form an ancient ensemble. Over several centuries, this place has seen a lot: there were fairs, shops, and even a factory store!

During the restoration period, which lasted about 10 years, the facades regained features characteristic of constructivism, and then the building was renamed the Kyiv City Theater of Arts "Slavutych." It is now designated as a protected architectural monument.

The modern opera and ballet theater has been here for the last 15 years. In the late 1990s, another renovation was carried out, and an orchestral pit was added.

The current auditorium can accommodate about 420 spectators, and the space under the dome is often used for exhibitions.

Внешним видом и оформлением интерьера Театр оперы и балета в Киеве, конечно, уступает Одесскому и Львовскому, но все равно это великолепное здание со своим специфическим оформлением. Ходила с подругами на балет «Лебединое озеро». Очень понравилось: балет был зрелищным и впечатляющим. В результате пошли еще через несколько дней на балет «Ромео и Джульетта».

Були на екскурсії в опері з Ларисою Тарасенко. Отримали неймовірне задоволення! Дякую! 🥰🥰 Дізналися багато цікавих фактів. Екскурсія тривала кілька годин, але промайнула на одному диханні. Люди працюють на своєму місці, з таким захопленням і любов’ю розповідали нам про історію та закулісся. Познайомитися з дрібним реквізитом нам допоміг Сергій Черненко майстер своєї справи, класно що можна було доторкнутися до реквізиту і зробити фото. Дуже рекомендую!
