The Kyiv Zoo was established thanks to the efforts of professors from Saint Vladimir University, the Polytechnic Institute, physicians, public figures, and other individuals who were members of the Kyiv Society of Nature Enthusiasts. The zoo was founded over 100 years ago. Initially, funds for the purchase and maintenance of the animals were collected through donations from citizens, and later sponsors and patrons were sought. During the period of the Tsarist Russia, the collection was enriched with gifts from wealthy merchants. Today, within the zoo's premises, visitors can not only admire a variety of animals, birds, fish, and other fauna representatives but also enjoy their time on the carousels. The management, in collaboration with the city's state apparatus, regularly organizes various contests, festivals, actions, and celebrations.

Выросла, но вновь попала в детство, такое чувство возникает, когда я привожу ребенка в зоопарк. Чтобы быстро обойти зоопарк, рассчитывайте свою прогулку как минимум часа на три, ведь он занимает немаленькую территорию. Сидя у озера можно отдохнуть и покормить уток, что очень нравится детям. Возле вольеров с животными можно стоять часами, наблюдая за ними. Но особенно интересно наблюдать за обезьянами, за их поведением и ужимками. Насмеяться можно от души.

Зоопарк цього року дуже здивував,все чисто,ніякого запаху від парнокопитних,як до цього,облаштування нових зон для відпочинку.Єдине зауваження про контактний зоопарк,краще б тримали всіх тварин за ставнями, бо ті ,що гуляють долі дуже дикі на їжу,якщо бачать паперовий пакет стрибають і на дорослих і на дітей,хочуть вихопити його,просто неможливо нормально погодувати.Все інше на достойному рівні.
