Karpacz

The resort town at the foot of the Sněžka and Złotówka mountains is located in the Sudetes on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic. Known since the 16th century as a town of gold prospectors, it has become a popular year-round resort in the Karkonosze Mountains National Park.

Karpacz is conventionally divided into two tourist zones: the Upper Mountain area with resorts and the Lower Valley area with hotels, restaurants, and spa centers. There are various types of accommodations, ranging from 4-star complexes with mini-water parks to budget hostels. The main street with shops and restaurants in Karpacz is named after the Constitution of May 3rd.

In the summer, tourists are drawn to the Polish resort of Karpacz by hiking routes to viewing platforms on mountain peaks, rock climbing competitions on the granite Crow Rocks, and a summer bobsled track. In winter, the mountains attract enthusiasts of skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, and tubing. The elevation difference on the resort's slopes is 530 meters; the highest point is 1350 meters above sea level; the most challenging and longest track is 3100 meters. Ski academies, equipment rentals, and service centers are available.

The main attractions in Karpacz include the old dam on the treacherous Łomnica mountain river, the Wild Waterfall near the Coma chairlift, and the renovated sports ski-jumping hill. An unusual tourist magnet of the resort is a genuine 12th-century wooden Norwegian church that was relocated to Karkonosze and reassembled in 1844.

Entertainment in Karpacz is geared towards family-friendly activities. Popular attractions include the Toy Museum exhibitions, the unique multimedia Karkonosze Museum, a rope park, rides, and theatrical cowboy shows at the Western City amusement park. In February, the ski resort owners organize fun "downhill on anything" competitions.
