As an Italian, food isn't just nourishment, but an experience, and, if you happen to find yourself in Genoa, then you must experience the gem that is Zeffirino. Genoa being the home of pesto, I'd recommend you try the Mendilli de saea al pesto Genovese (recommended to me by a local I bumped into on the way to the restaurant).
