Hiking enthusiasts conquer the Sky Road - one of the most scenic routes in Ireland. A trip to the Aran Islands offers the chance to see giant sharks and take home a famous sweater as a souvenir. Getting to the islands is easy: ferries depart from Rossaveal port twice a day.

The nearest international airport to Galway is Shannon, with dozens of direct flights from the USA and Europe. It's easy to get from Ireland’s capital to the port on the west of the island in 2.5 hours by bus or train, with special buses running from the capital's airport.
