Justo al lado de la estación de tren del Este, situado en la estructura de una antigua planta de energía, se encuentra el muy conocido club techno Berghain. En 2012, fue reconocido como el mejor club del mundo. Sin embargo, entrar no es fácil, ya que el control de acceso es muy estricto, y los criterios por los cuales la seguridad selecciona a los invitados aún no se han revelado. Tomar fotos o filmar dentro de Berghain está estrictamente prohibido.

Quienes tienen la suerte de haber esperado horas en la fila y encontrarse dentro, quedarán impactados por la atmósfera circundante. Se adentran en un mundo completamente diferente, donde no hay rastro de lujo, glamour ni ningún otro atributo de la vida de la alta sociedad. En el primer piso, hay un guardarropa, un cuarto oscuro y una sala con bancos de concreto y el lienzo "Ritual of Disappearance" de Nathan, cubriendo toda una pared. Berghain está dividido en 2 partes: un acogedor bar panorámico y una enorme pista de baile. Al mismo tiempo, puede albergar a 1500 personas.

In Berlin for twelve days in July and my girlfriend and I were allowed entry three times - and first time trying! It's a bit of a cliche but wearing black seems to help although my skirt was leather. People used to say if you get denied entry return at 8am when the bouncers change for easier entry but the bouncers at 8am seem harder than the ones previous. Cash only once inside but the bouncers will let you leave to visit the ATM (five seconds away) without having to queue again. In my opinion, the sound system in the main room is overrated, only good if you can get right in the middle of the floor. If you stand on the left side underneath the stairs to Panoramabar, the sounds becomes distorted. The best advice for entry I heard was "act normal, dress casual - roll the dice!".
