Achingly cool and very Marchmont, this is the kind of cafe that would pull me back to live here as an adult with a coffee habit. As a student, this space was a mini market. Now it’s a sharp, clean space with warm and welcoming staff. Coffee is rich and flavoursome, and the cinnamon buns … say no more. From the number of folk arriving after 10am, it sounds like a reservation is a good idea if you want to be sure of a table, or if you’re not on your own and able to observe the world from the breakfast bar.

I recently visited this coffee shop and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming, and the service was excellent. The food, however, truly stood out – unique recipes and dishes that feel special compared to most places. They even serve cold-pressed juices, which is a rare find in Edinburgh coffee shops. I tried the smoked trout eggs benedict, and to my surprise, I enjoyed it even more than my all-time favourite salmon version. My friends and I had such a great experience, and we all agreed the food was fantastic. For me, this is one of the best brunch spots in the Newington area – offering great quality and value for the price.
