To the northwest of Vilnius, there's a small town called Kernavė - the capital of ancient Lithuanians, where modern buildings have been erected, but a significant landmark remains the sculpture "Wolf in Knight's Armor". The artwork is located close to the Virgin Mary Church and has a rich history: the monument was installed before World War II, then dismantaged, and later, at the request of local priests, the sculpture was restored, given an even more ferocious appearance.

According to legends, the Lithuanian Duke Domantas, having spared a wounded wolf during a hunt, received its life as a gift and was reborn after death. Since then, the duke protects his homeland in the form of a wild, yet loyal beast.

The sculpture is placed on a natural stone podium, next to which stands another pedestal for a bowl of water.
