The Gate of Dawn is the name of the gates in the ancient city wall that surrounded the city in the early 16th century. Above the gate, there is a chapel with an image of the Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, and the building itself combines Gothic style with Renaissance. The icon is revered by both Catholics and Orthodox Christians, making this place always noisy and crowded. The sounds of city hustle are complemented by organ music and choral singing, a stream of strangers, and ancient houses: it seems that Vilnius begins right from this spot.
