The monument is made of bronze and depicts the leader of the volunteer army in a simple soldier's uniform. A stone base with sculptures of militiamen and laurel wreaths serves as the pedestal for the sculpture.

Despite Italian verbosity, the inscription on the monument is very succinct-just two words: "Pisa - Garibaldi". Surprisingly, this landmark is the culmination of the surrounding architectural ensemble of the square. By the way, it is also named after the Italian national hero.
