In the middle of the 16th century, the site of the Saint-Eustache church was occupied by a much smaller Saint-Agnes temple. The expansion of the city and its population forced the church clergy and city officials to rebuild the structure, making it larger. The Notre-Dame Cathedral was used as a prototype for the new church. However, by the end of the construction, the architectural style had transitioned, resulting in a sanctuary that embodied both Gothic and Renaissance elements. This positively influenced its appearance and significantly distinguished it among other buildings.
