'Hearty fare' is a claim you rarely hear these days, and encounter even less. Yet this surprisingly roomy pub still prides itself on offering a cracking lunch for little money, and its absolutely delicious. the small lunch plates in particular, will see you slaked and sated for under a tenner, and feeling full in the very best of ways. The dishes themselves are simple - big on flavour, and made with such good ingredients and care that even their least dish will leave you full. Busy at lunchtime (and with good reason) it's worth going early - hearty fare tends to go quickly at those prices.

Pricey! I ordered two glasses of wine which on the board were £8.40 per glass, but decided to go for large glasses and they ended up costing £16 each! I asked to switch to bottle and was told it was too late
