About

Saint Ansgars Cathedral in Copenhagen stands as a testament to Neoclassical architectural elegance, designed by the renowned Gustav Friedrich Hetsch. Immaculately preserved since its opening in 1842, this Catholic cathedral offers a serene retreat with its peaceful ambiance and understated beauty. The simple yet impressive interior is adorned with religious frescoes, stained glass windows, and sculptures of church fathers nestled in alcoves. A focal point within is the skull relic, meticulously radiocarbon-dated to the early centuries AD. Visitors are drawn to the high-level organ pipes and the fine organ at the rear, where music elevates the soul during daily Mass. With a high rating of 4.7, guests appreciate the cathedral's tranquil setting, free entry, and cashless donation boxes. An excellent spot for reflection and quiet reverence, Saint Ansgars offers an inviting stop amidst the historical fabric of Copenhagen.
