El antiguo palacio sede de la Capitanía General de Burgos (construido en 1907 para este uso) perdió su principal significado con la absurda desaparición de todas las capitanias generales. Ocupa el solar de un anterior palacio del S XVI (la Casa de las 4 Torres) que se encontraba en estado ruinoso. Ha vivido buena parte de la historia española del SXX, sus principales usos se recuerdan en una placa sita en la parte derecha de la fachada. Es interesante saber que en su salón del Trono Franco fue proclamado Jefe del Estado (en aquel momento solo de la zona nacional), y que allí el mismo firmó el último parte de guerra que puso fin a la GC. Hoy su uso mayoritario es ser oficinas de la Comandancia Militar de Burgos, y en el sótano el Museo de Historia Militar de Burgos. Como pasa en estos tiempos algunos partidos se empeñan en borrar de sus paredes la historia ya vivida, como si así pudieran cambiarla ☹️!
