A Síró fiú (Grinegutten) Sofus Madsen három híres gyermekszobra közül a legismertebb. A Szökőkútfiút (Fontenegutten, 1920) és a Spriccelőfiút (Sprøytegutten, 1927) követően készült, mintegy válaszként Vigeland Mérges fiújára (Sinnataggen). A Síró fiút és a Spriccelőfiút Jacob Neumann - fiatalon elhunyt fia emlékére - vásárolta meg, majd Bergen városának ajándákozta köztéri kiállításra.
